Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, Yes it has a sub heading good start they are giving it more thought than just a roman numeral. You know what I was looking forward to this movie I really was. I tried to keep my head down and not take in too much of the publicity hoping rather to enjoy it for myself first time round. The opening sequence is actually really good full of action and everything you would expect from the franchise, the title credits kick in and you see names like J.J. Abrams, Bryan Burk, Brad Bird, Michael Giacchino. I was getting quite excited! Sadly it was a disappointing 2 hours that followed. After the opening sequence it just turns into what can only be described as an early Bond Movie, Rodger Moore Bond at that too! In some scenes you do half expect to hear some funny sound effects as a car topples over or as Tom Cruse bangs his head for the tenth time it made it feel more like you have been framed. What really annoyed me is the worlds 3 min from ending and Tom Cruse slams on the breaks in the car to avoid hitting pedestrians! JUST DRIVE OVER THEM!!
Aww ill be fair it does entertain the tempo speeds along quite fast and even if the jokes seem low the production values are immence. It feels more of a roughly stitched together action sequences and cliches than a movie. Loads is going on and the stunts look good the story just is whats lacking, they should of developed the sub plots more in my opinion it would of been more interesting. Fire in a few flashbacks and cut the never ending chase scenes down, parts of it feel like chariots of fire or Forrest Gump!
Why did i choose this movie, well like i said i was looking forward to seeing it. It also had been a while since i had ben at the movies and seemed a good wee flick to go watch with the lads. I think that when u leave a action movie you should wannna run out and just emulate the characters and i really didn’t want to after this, hell i even wanted to go home and code websites after the social network! Go see sure its entertaining enough but dont rush urself, i wouldnt go see it twice so it ranks low for me! Simon Pegg is what saves it, its worth going to see for his performance alone!
Format: Cinema (Movie House Cinema: Coleraine)
